Drink Weird Hits the Baja with Paul Weel and Rob MacCachren
Drink Weird is heading south. The organic yerba mate and tea energy drink brand is sponsoring Paul Weel and Rob MacCachren's all new Gen 2 AWD Trophy Truck for the 2026 SCORE International desert racing season, starting with the Baja 500 and continuing to the legendary Baja 1000.
A New Truck Built for Baja
The Gen 2 AWD Trophy Truck, built by Mason Motorsports, is one of the most anticipated new builds in off-road racing this year. All wheel drive, purpose-built for the brutal terrain of the Baja Peninsula, and ready to compete at the front of the pack. Paul Weel and Rob MacCachren are sharing driving duties, bringing decades of combined experience in trophy truck racing to the new program.
Rob MacCachren is one of the most decorated names in desert racing, with multiple Baja 1000 overall wins to his name. Paul Weel is a longtime trophy truck racer and team owner whose Pro Desert Racers program has been a fixture in the SCORE series.
Why Drink Weird is Backing Desert Racing
Motorsports is one of Drink Weird's four core marketing pillars, alongside art, action sports, and music. The brand has built its identity around the people and subcultures that push culture forward, and off-road racing fits the mission. It's gritty, it's wild, it's loud, and it rewards the kind of obsession that gets people out of bed at 4am to prep a truck in the desert.
Drink Weird makes USDA organic yerba mate and tea energy drinks with 160mg of organic caffeine, no artificial colors or sweeteners. The brand is now available in all 50 states across more than 14,000 retail doors including Sprouts, HEB, Jacksons, 7-Eleven, Chevron, and many many more.
What's Next: Baja 500 and Baja 1000
The SCORE International Baja 500 is the first race on the schedule, running through hundreds of miles of Baja California desert. The Baja 1000, the most famous off-road race in the world, follows later in the season. Both races will see the new Gen 2 AWD Trophy Truck on course with Paul Weel and Rob MacCachren behind the wheel.
